Empire manufactures White Mountain Hearth indoor and outdoor fireplaces, inserts, logs & burners, cast iron stoves, and mantels at the company’s two manufacturing facilities in Belleville, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis. The company has provided jobs to southern Illinois residents for more than 100 years – both in the original sheet metal shop dating back to 1911 and in the manufacturing facility that opened in 1932. The children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of some of the original employees still proudly work to produce our products, truly making this a family business.

VENT-FREE FIREPLACES
A Vent-Free system uses room air for combustion and delivers 99.9% of the available heat energy directly to the room. Vent-Free systems have an unmatched safety record, thanks in part to their clean-burning technology and their Oxygen Depletion Sensor, which instantly shuts off the valve if oxygen in the room drops to and unsafe level. Because no venting is required, Vent-Free systems offer more installation options.
Vent-Free systems are limited to 40,000 Btu and must be operated as supplemental heating sources in conjunction with a central furnace that circulates air.

A vent-free gas insert turns your existing wood-burning fireplace into an attractive and efficient heat source. Vent-free fireplace inserts are classified as zone heating appliances. Zone heating is inherently more efficient than your existing wood-burning fireplace or your central furnace. A central furnace wastes 20 to 30 percent of the heat energy through ductwork losses and sends much of the remaining heat to unoccupied rooms. Don’t have an existing fireplace? These vent-free systems are also certified for zero-clearance installation in any wall. Just add one of our available surrounds to create an attractive in-wall fireplace.

DIRECT-VENT FIREPLACES
A Direct-Vent system uses two vent pipes. One draws air in from outdoors to support combustion. The other exhausts the by-products of combustion to the outside. The two vent pipes may be concentric (exhaust pipe within a larger diameter intake pipe) or co-linear (separate pipes of about the same size).
Combustion takes place inside a sealed chamber – with a glass front in the case of a fireplace. Room air circulates around the combustion chamber, often assisted by a blower, to heat the room.
A DV system is often installed along an outside wall to simplify the vent run, but can also be installed elsewhere in the home and vented through the roof.

Tahoe Clean-Face Deluxe models feature our Contour tube-style burner, designed to complement the hand-painted ceramic fiber log set, and produce a natural dancing flame.
The Clean-Face Deluxe Fireplace comes with a discreet air distribution channel that eliminates the look of louvers, yet still allows you to operate the optional blower. It features a large tempered glass window that provides an unobstructed view to the log set. Choose an optional liner to customize your fireplace.
Tahoe Clean-Face Deluxe models require 17-3/4, and use 4 x 6-5/8 venting, making them ideal for applications where wall-cavity space is tight.
Designed for in-wall installation, your Tahoe Direct-Vent fireplace can be finished with tile or other non-combustible material, which conceals the outer edge of the fireplace to provide a true built-in appearance.

Direct-Vent Fireplace Inserts are classified as zone heating appliances. Zone heating is inherently more efficient than your existing wood-burning fireplace or your central furnace. Unlike a central furnace, which wastes 20 to 30 percent of the heat energy through ductwork losses and sends much of the remaining heat to unoccupied rooms, zone heating creates and transmits the heat directly into the room. This lets you turn down your whole-house thermostat and use your fireplace insert to efficiently warm the room you use most.

LOG SETS & BURNERS
Empire manufactures log sets and burners to suit any application in sizes ranging from 16 inches to 30 inches, in Natural Gas and LP. We offer both ceramic fiber and traditional refractory concrete logs. Each log is hand-painted to bring out the rich detail. Our Vent-Free Burners are approved for use in any certified vent-free firebox. They may be also installed in an existing wood-burning fireplace, with the damper closed, to operate as a vent-free heating system.
A vent-free Millivolt Loft Burner may also be installed as a decorative appliance in a vented fireplace to provide ambiance and light – but without the heat. In a vented installation, the burner cannot be operated by thermostat, and the flue damper must be blocked open. A damper clamp is included with all Loft burners.
Our vented pan burners are constructed from high-quality tube burners covered in a bed of sand. The logs rest on a sturdy 5/8” wrought iron grate above the sand and ember bed. Gas percolates up through the sand and burns beneath the logs. All Vented Sand Pan Burners include the burner, log grate, sand, and embers. Triple burners include crushed glass, instead of sand, to help maintain a cleaner burn.

Vented Gas Log Sets

A Vented Gas Log Set installs in a wood-burning fireplace to provide all the ambiance of a real wood fire, but without the work of hauling in logs, lighting the kindling, tending the fire, and hauling out the ash. You simply light the fire when you want it and turn it off when you’re done. Sand pan burners allow you to arrange the log set to suit your taste. Choose a traditional match-light set – or one of our new Manual or Millivolt Systems for even greater operating ease.
Empire CAST-IRON STOVES
Empire Cast Iron Stoves are available in two types of ignition – Millivolt (MV) and Intermittent Pilot (IP). The Millivolt system lights a standing pilot with a pushbutton piezo ignitor. Once the standing pilot is lit, the MV system operates with an on/off switch concealed on the back of the stove or with one of Empire’s optional remote control systems.
IP systems eliminate the standing pilot for even greater energy savings. Pressing the on/off switch ignites the pilot, which then ignites the main burner. IP systems can also operate with an optional remote control system.
Choose from two sizes and three colors – porcelain black, porcelain mahogany, and matte black.
All Empire Cast Iron Stoves can provide heat during extended power outages.

Keystone B-VENT Fireplaces
Keystone B-Vent Fireplaces combine modern technology with traditional venting to create the appearance and performance of a conventional fireplace but with the convenience of gas.
Our B-Vent systems let you prolong the flicker of the flames without overheating your room. The BVD-34 input is 21,000 Btu; the BVD-36 is 25,000 Btu; and the Premium BVP-42 is 30,000 Btu.
The hand-painted ceramic fiber Log Set features large logs, arranged to fill the fireplace and complement the flames.
