Look deep into this fireplace insert- what you see is a full view of the flames and logs - it's a huge 600-square inch viewing area - not something squished in between louvers and controls. Mendota matches the view witha 2 stage ceramic burner, firebox lighting w/dimmer and a remote control that contols the flame height and works as a thermostat. The remote also controls the variable flames from a robust 41-thousand BTUs all the way down to a cozy 18-thousand BTUs. The FV33i is shown here with the Basix front, designed for those who want minimal visual interruption of the Mendota fire.
